We then explore Springtime steam over the Settle & Carlisle, as BR Standard 7MT 4-6-2 Pacific 70000 Britannia heads the 'Cumbrian Guardsman' and LNER A4 Pacific 60009 Union of South Africa heads the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express.' CLASSIC TRACTION RAILWAY YEAR 2012: Volume II (Parts 8 - 16) is the second volume in this highly popular video journal from Classic Traction that is dedicated to covering all of the many highlights and developments during the railway year. Examining steam and diesel traction on the National Network and in preservation, in this second volume of 2012, which covers all the action from the Summer and Autumn of 2012, we see the Network Rail Inspection train covering some of the mothballed freight lines in the Plymouth District. In Volume II we review the 'Curnow Irrupter' charter over the Newquay branch to Goonbarrow Junction and the Par Harbour branch with DRS Class 37/0s 37087 Keighley & Worth Valley Railway - 50th Anniversary + 37194, Network Rail Class 97/3 97301s visit to the Newquay branch with a NR test train, the West Somerset Mixed Traction Gala in June 2011, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the GM Type 5s, and the gala which featured four Class 59s, including MRL Class 59/0 59001 Yeoman Endeavour and ARC Class 59/1 59103 Village of Mells, the Mazey Day Specials to Penzance, which featured DRS Class 20/3, 37, and Class 31 motive-power, and the visit of Class 55 'Deltic' 55022 Royal Scots Grey to Paignton with the 'Devonian.'
